A forever wreath by Julie Cook

What would I like for my birthday, came the question. So I gave him a few ideas and with this one, I included all details like Julie’s email and the size. And tadaam, here it is now, weeks later, received yesterday, for my birthday, this beautiful, exquisite forever wreath. I love wreaths and I have a stunning one hanging on our front door, a gift from Sarah, it has now become a tradition, I think, I hope, lucky me. There’s one on the way, in the post, that is one I ordered myself, for the shed, this will be our last Christmas here and I wanted the shed to have a proper one. And there’s one a lovely friend surprised me with when we met for a frosty walk.

I met Julie (of Ochre Botanicals) a few years ago, through her work and I’ve been captivated by her unique style ever since. These words - from her website - describe so perfectly how she creates with flowers and on how she worked on this very wreath:

”Through observation, I aim to echo nature's own designs - noticing interesting shapes and palettes, and arrange to show each element’s best qualities. I really enjoy being outside and I adore flowers - growing them, smelling them, watching them in the breeze or dappled in gentle sunlight”

With the wreath, she included a bunch of extra bits in case anything got damaged in the transit but no, it was all very much intact, this very fragile wreath arrived in one piece, all the way from Scotland. At the moment, I cannot take my eyes off it, there are so many delicate details, flowers, plants to admire in there.

This wreath from Julie was a gift from my boyfriend, he contacted Julie and discussed all the details with her, I’m super impressed. If you’d like to see more of Julie’s work, check out her Instagram.
